The problem
Ice maker not working
The repair
Replaced water valve, filter, and drawer gasket
The result
Temperature stabilized and ice test passed
Customer Complaint and Possible Causes
The customer told us the ice maker was not working. When an ice maker stops working, it is often caused by a bad ice maker itself, warm temperature, or a water inlet valve issue.
Diagnosis and Findings
We checked the freezer temperature and found it unstable at 10 to 15 degrees instead of the set -2 degrees. We ran the ice maker test mode and saw that water failed to fill. During our check, we found a heavily clogged condenser coil, an overheated compressor, a deformed freezer drawer gasket, and a leaking water valve that caused ice to build up in the supply tube and ice maker nozzle.
Repair Performed
We cleaned the dirt off the condenser coil, replaced the faulty water valve, installed a new water filter, and put in a new freezer drawer gasket.
Verification and Outcome
We checked the freezer and confirmed the temperature stabilized. We ran the ice maker test again, and it completed successfully with the water filling properly.
