The problem
Wash cycle interrupted early with prolonged draining
The repair
Flushed system and sump to remove dish soap residue
The result
Excessive foaming stopped completely after flushing
Customer Complaint and Possible Causes
The customer noticed the wash cycle cutting out early, and pointed out that the drain pump kept running for a really long time before stopping. Usually, long drain times and early cycle stops happen because of a clogged drain line, a failing drain pump, or excessive foaming from the wrong type of soap blocking the water level pressure.
Diagnosis and Findings
We ran a diagnostic cycle and listened closely to the machine. The drain pump sounded healthy and water drained out fast with good pressure, so we ruled out a pump failure or a clogged disposal. When the tub filled with water again, we found a huge mountain of ordinary dish soap bubbles sitting on the bottom, reaching way up past the bottom spray arm.
Repair Performed
We flushed out the dishwasher system and the sump multiple times with clean water to wash away all the leftover dish soap residue causing the heavy suds.
Verification and Outcome
After running those repeated system rinses, we checked the tub again and confirmed that the soap suds were completely gone and no longer forming during operation.
