The problem
Compressor fails to start and beverage cooler does not cool
The repair
Replaced the failed controller and cleaned the condenser coil
The result
Compressor started normally and internal temperature is dropping
Customer Complaint and Possible Causes
The customer reported that the beverage cooler was not working because the compressor failed to start. Potential causes for a compressor failing to start can include a faulty controller, electrical issues within the compressor windings, or lack of power supply.
Diagnosis and Findings
We checked the compressor power supply and found no incoming power. We checked the electrical section of the compressor and confirmed the windings were in normal condition with no ground fault. We tested the compressor directly by bypassing the controller, confirming that the compressor ran with normal pressure and no signs of a refrigerant leak. We concluded that the controller was faulty and needed to be replaced. Additionally, we found that the condenser coil needed cleaning due to a lack of maintenance.
Repair Performed
We replaced the failed controller. We also cleaned the condenser coil.
Verification and Outcome
Following the controller replacement, we observed normal compressor operation and the internal temperature was going down. The compressor started in normal mode, the internal temperature dropped, and the repair was complete.
