The problem
Refrigerator stopped cooling and temperatures rose to 68°F
The repair
Replaced faulty inverter board and broken door switch
The result
Compressor started and cold air began flowing properly
Customer Complaint and Possible Causes
The customer reported that the refrigerator completely stopped cooling, and temperatures in both compartments rose to 68 degrees. A total loss of cooling like this usually points to a non-running compressor, a failed control board or inverter, or airflow blockages caused by issues with compartment doors and dampers.
Diagnosis and Findings
We checked the power supply circuit to the compressor and found that the compressor itself was fine, but its inverter board was faulty and not letting the compressor run. We also discovered a second problem: a broken door switch that failed to recognize when the door was closed, leaving the air dumper shut and blocking cold air from entering the refrigerator compartment.
Repair Performed
We replaced the failed inverter board with a new one to get the compressor running again. We also replaced the faulty door switch so the refrigerator would properly recognize the closed door and open the air dumper.
Verification and Outcome
After replacing the inverter board, we watched the compressor start up and saw compartment temperatures begin to drop. After replacing the door switch, we verified that cold air was actively flowing into the refrigerator compartment, successfully fixing both faults and bringing temperatures back down to normal.
